Hawks Heroes

Catawba Valley Community College participates in the National Junior College Athletic Association, also known as the NJCAA.  The CVCC Red Hawks currently compete at the Division II level in 4 sports, Baseball, Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, and Volleyball.  IN 2019 the Red Hawks athletic department has grown adding Softball, Bass Fishing and E-Sports.

Since restablishment of the program in Fall of 2004 the Red Hawks have seen great success claiming 20 conference titles, 17 Region X titles, 10 district titles, and 10 national tournament appearances. The Red Hawks have also produced a National Player of the Year, 20 All-Americans, 53 Academic All-Americans, more than 100 All-Region winners and more than 200 student-athletes who have signed with four-year universities.

While the Red Hawks are successful in the classroom and the playing field, the athletic department still faces many obstacles.  Currently the State of North Carolina prohibits two year educational institutions from using state funds to support an athletic program.  In the past, student fees and a portion of the book store profits were used to support the athletic program.  However, as online book sales have increased and the cost of travel has increased, the Red Hawks athletic department faces its toughest opponent yet in supporting our student-athletes succeed at a high level.
The Red Hawks athletic department strives to maintain a high level of competition and continue to grow, therefore we must find unique and original ways to continue the financial stability of the Red Hawks athletic department.  With new financial opportunities the Red Hawks athletic department looks to step into the future and continue in their winning ways.
This is where YOU can help.  The Red Hawks athletic department is asking you to become a “Hawk Hero.”  The student-athletes, coaching staff, and Red Hawk supporters ask you to help in the support and building of our winning tradition at CVCC.  No gift is too little, even a dollar can help.  All monies received will go to the athletic general fund to allow funding to future scholarships, equipment purchases, travel expenses, and other needs that arise by the athletic teams.

I hope you, your family or your company will take the time and finances to support Red Hawks Athletics.  With your help we can see continued athletic success and the rise of Red Hawks Athletics nationally.  Thank you for being a Hawk Hero.
