Red Hawks top Trojans 13-1 in midweek match up

HICKORY, N.C. — The Catawba Valley Community College baseball team used a 13-hit performance to take down Fayetteville Tech 13-1 at Henkel-Alley Field at the Hickory American Legion Fairgrounds on Wednesday.

Matthew Perez paced the Red Hawks (13-7) with a double and a home run, and Jacob Krebs and Sylas Mills each added a double each of their own.

On the mound, Catawba Valley starting pitcher Chase Arrington earned the win. He allowed five hits, one earned run, one walk and struck out four batters in three innings of work.

Alex Robinson, Brodie Shaw, Cooper Bliss and Drew Bryant pitched one inning each, and the quartet combined to give up just two hits and two walks in the final four innings of the contest.

The Catawba Valley Community College baseball team will try to extend its six-game winning streak when it returns to action this weekend for a home conference series against Patrick & Henry. The Red Hawks and Patriots play a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 1 p.m .before finishing the series with a single nine-inning game at noon on Sunday.
