NJCAA Division II Region X/ District P Volleyball Tournament
November 6-7, 2015
The Catawba Valley Community College Lady Red Hawks volleyball team travelled to Pitt Community College to compete in the NJCAA Region X/ District P Tournament on November 6th and 7th. Teams were ranked in the following order: Catawba Valley (#1), Cape Fear (#2), Lenoir (#4), Surry (#5), Brunswick (#6), Wake Tech (#7) and Guilford Tech (#8). Pasco-Hernando State College of Port Richey, Florida also competed in the tournament to represent Region 8 and came in as the #3 seed.
For the season, CVCC went undefeated in conference play with a perfect 16-0 record! The trend continued for the tournament with the Lady Red Hawks defeating Guilford Tech in the first round 25-9, 25-8 and 25-13 to advance to the semi-finals on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Catawba Valley faced Surry in the semi-final match which would decide the 2015 Region X Conference Champions. CVCC won in 3 with scores 25-9, 25-19 and 25-17 to claim the title.
In the District P Championship match, Catawba Valley fell to Pasco Hernando State College. Pasco will represent District P next week in Arizona at the NJCAA Division Championship Tournament.
Catawba Valley players Megan Fair, Katelyn Houser and Ada Thompson were named to the NJCAA Region X All-Conference Team and Megan Fair and Ada Thompson were both nominated for All-American. In addition, Megan Fair and Katelyn Houser received NJCAA Region X/ District P All-Tournament Team honors and Megan Fair was named the Region X 2015 Player of the Year!
