Red Hawk baseball sweeps Region 10 road series at Patriots

MARTINSVILLE, Va. — The Catawba Valley Community College baseball team powered its way to a Region 10 series sweep this weekend, taking all three games from Patrick & Henry Community College.

The Red Hawks (30-17, 20-6 in Region 10) piled up 32 runs and 40 hits across the weekend.

Catawba Valley 6, Patrick & Henry 4 (game one)

Catawba Valley opened the series by collecting 12 hits and never relinquishing control. Red Hawk right‑hander Chase Arrington delivered 6.1 strong innings, allowing just two earned runs before turning the ball over to Tony Lopez and Drew Bryant, who closed out the final 2.2 innings.

Offensively, Tanner Brewer led the way for CVCC with a 3‑for‑4 performance and an RBI. Lucas Dawson drove in two runs, Josh Meadows homered, and Brody Taylor, Isaiah McDowell and Meadows each added key RBIs to keep the Red Hawks in front.

Catawba Valley 13, Patrick & Henry 3 (game two - five innings)

The Red Hawks erupted in Saturday's nightcap, run‑ruling the Patriots. Brody Taylor and Alex Robinson each homered for CVCC, while Lucas Dawson and Isaiah McDowell combined for four doubles and six RBIs.

Brady Byler added a triple and two RBIs for Catawba Valley, and Sylas Mills, Pierce Bouwman and Alex Robinson all contributed to an attack that scored in every inning but one.

Red Hawk freshman Lane Essary earned the win, striking out five over 3.2 innings and allowing just one run. Cooper Bliss finished the final 1.1 innings to secure the run‑rule victory.

Catawba Valley 13, Patrick & Henry 5 (game three)

The Red Hawks completed the series sweep Sunday with another 13‑run outburst on 17 hits.

Lucas Dawson capped a standout weekend for CVCC with a four‑hit, two‑RBI performance, while Sylas Mills added three hits and three RBIs. Brady Byler continued his strong series with three hits and two RBIs, and Brody Taylor, Pierce Bouwman, Alex Robinson, Isaiah McDowell and Josh Meadows all drove in runs for Catawba Valley.

McDowell and Meadows each homered, giving the Red Hawks four home runs in the series.

On the mound, Cole Bowie and Riley Campbell combined for 8.2 innings with nine strikeouts before Braiden Moore recorded the final out.

Across the three‑game sweep, Catawba Valley outscored Patrick & Henry, 32-12. CVCC also collected 40 hits, including 10 extra‑base hits, including four home runs, and 10 different Red Hawks drove in runs. CVCC also never trailed after the third inning in any game.

The Catawba Valley Community College baseball team returns to action Wednesday for a home conference game against Cleveland Community College at Henkel‑Alley Field at the Hickory American Legion Fairgrounds. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
