CVCC 3, Montreat JV 0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-13)

The Red Hawks of Catawba Valley travelled to Montreat College to face the Cavaliers for a 6:00 match on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 for their season opener.  CVCC started off sluggish, but picked it up and won three straight sets, 25-10, 25-15, 25-13. 

Leading in the kill category for the Red Hawks was Megan Fair with 12 for the match.  Regan Redmond and Ada Thompson added 6 each and Hannah Griffin had 5.  Thompson led the assist category with 29 for the match and had 3 service aces as well, to add to GaoSee Vang's 4 aces on the night.  Megan Fair and Katelyn Houser dominated the defensive game with 14 and 10 digs respectively.  Tori Carter led the block category with 1.5 total blocks for the night and Hannah Griffin had 1 total block.    

The Hawks travel to Toledo, Ohio this weekend for an Invitation Tournament at Owens Community College where they will be matched against top teams in the NJCAA Division II Poll rankings.

The Red Hawks overall record is 1-0 and their conference record is 0-0.
